There is an ISO standard for securing semi-trailers to ferry vessels. It turned out that German trailer manufacturers in particular had little experience with the way in which unaccompanied semi-trailers are handled on ferry boats, especially when those trailers had air suspension.
This regularly led to serious damage to the chassis of the trailers. TRTA organised several sessions with trailer manufacturers and shipping companies to give both parties insight into each other's challenges and dilemmas.
This led to positive modifications to both the trailers and how they were handled on the ships.
